Music, Mosquitoes and a Beautiful Sunset in Southern Estonia

This August, ÖÖ32 Quartet headed south for a concert in Leevijõe, Southern Estonia, and it turned out to be one of those evenings that we will remember for quite a while.

We played outdoors beside a small, beautiful lake as the sun was going down. Our programme brought together some of our folk music and jazz repertoire, which felt just right for the relaxed atmosphere and the surrounding nature. The setting was beautiful, the audience was wonderful, and we had a lot of fun playing together.

There was, however, one small problem: the mosquitoes had clearly decided to join the concert too. They were remarkably enthusiastic about our performance! 🦟

After the concert, we continued our little trip through Southern Estonia and spent the night in Tuimõisa, not far from Mustvee and Lake Peipus. We stayed in a lovely house with a garden and sauna, which gave us the perfect opportunity to slow down after the concert.

Of course, we also did some work, but we probably spent just as much time cooking, talking, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. And that is one of the things we value most about ÖÖ32 Quartet: we are not only four musicians, but also four friends.

Trips like this remind us why we love making music together. A beautiful place, good people, music we enjoy playing, a bit of adventure — and perhaps slightly too many mosquitoes — make for a pretty good ÖÖ32 Quartet experience.

Not So Traditional Quartet, indeed.
